Review: Wyndham Dubai Marina Hotel

I recently stayed at the Wyndham Dubai Marina Hotel for the weekend. The Wyndham Dubai Marina is a 4-star property located at the edge of the marina within walking distance to popular tourist locations like The Walk, JBR, and to the beach.

The hotel offers free Wi-Fi, a swimming pool, a club lounge for members, a fitness center, and a couple of restaurants and a bar.

The hotel was busier than most hotels I have seen in Dubai during the same period, which is the end of July when most people try to avoid being in the city due to extreme heat and humidity.

Despite being very busy, the staff was very welcoming from the start. Following my check in, I headed to my room on the 32nd floor which had superb views of the Dubai Marina (check the pictures below).

The room is tastefully decorated and contains all the necessary amenities. The bed and pillows were perfect. The bathroom on the other hand felt a bit claustrophobic and I wish they made use of the views and placed it on the other side of the room.

After that, I headed to lunch at their “Essence” restaurant where I had the burger. It was pretty average — not bad, but not the best burger I had. In retrospect, I should have gone with some of the Middle Eastern specialties they offer on the menu.

The hotel’s swimming pool is located on the 3rd floor and despite being somewhat small, seemed to accommodate more people than one would think. I had the mango lassie to cool off while lounging at the pool and it was delicious.

For dinner, I headed to the Louisiana-themed Range restaurant which serves steak and seafood. I had the Australian wagyu beef steak which was deliciously cooked to perfection and I think this is bound to be one of the best steakhouses in the city. Although I do not have sauces with my steaks, I had the spicy peri peri sauce per the waiter’s recommendation, and it was a great addition.

The next day, I stopped by the club lounge on the 31st floor which offered complimentary beverages and snacks to members of the hotel. Similar to the higher floor rooms, the lounge had an excellent view of parts of Dubai.

Breakfast is served at the lobby level and features a live cooking station which is always a big plus point in my book. The breakfast had everything you typically find at hotel buffet breakfasts and was well distributed and presented.

Verdict

I was invited to stay here but the hotel is great value for money especially for an expensive area like Marina and JBR. The location of the hotel means that you would not have to worry about food or entertainment options while staying here without breaking the bank. The staff’s helpfulness and great service is a cherry on the top. If you decide to stay here, make sure you ask for a room with a Marina view and you won’t be disappointed!
