Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur: The Coolest Check-In in the City

Kuala Lumpur is one of the most urbanized cities in Asia with sleek skyscrapers, towers, and high rises where you walk in the city center. Some parts even barely see the day of light because they are surrounded by all these high buildings. Now, imagine having the opportunity to check in at a hotel above all these buildings and get one of the best views of the city, all this before you even reach your room which is when the really magical view is! Intrigued? Read on…

The reception desk at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is on the 39th floor of the building. The staff there are incredibly friendly and will finish processing you in in no time. While waiting, I could not help but wander around to see a panoramic almost 360 degree view of the city. I reached my room on the 33rd floor and I open the curtain to be greeted by the jaw-dropping, unobstructed view of the Petronas Twin Towers. I dare you to want to close the curtains after seeing this view!

With its proximity to several shopping malls and well-known convention center, the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is ideal for both business and leisure travelers. It has 411 guest rooms and suites, one of the largest in room size amongst five-star luxury hotels in the city center.

The hotel has a beautiful outdoor swimming pool with lots of lush tropical greenery around. It may not be the Maldives but it is the next best thing in a busy, crowded place like city center, and more than enough to cool you down after a day of shopping or meetings.

I did not have the chance to try it but the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur also has a spa, which allows guests to take in the powerful benefits of ramuan, the traditional Malay preparation of ingredients.

The highlight of my stay has got to be breakfast. In fact, I was torn between going for breakfast and staying in the room to enjoy the view! But fear not — even if you room does not have a view of the Petronas Towers, THIRTY8, where breakfast is served, has an excellent view of both the towers and the KL Tower, so you will not miss the view either way. Back to breakfast, it featured some really exquisite food but my personal favorite was the DIY Nasi Lemak station where you can prepare your own version of the beloved Malaysian dish. Perhaps surprisingly, the hotel’s version is of the same quality as you would find it in popular places around the city.

I also had dinner once at THIRTY8 during my stay. The ambience is impossible to beat and the appetizer (scallop carpaccio) was to die for, and the lobster was flavorful although that night view is the centerpiece here.

The Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur has another restaurant, JP teres which serves authentic selections of Malay, Indian and Chinese flavours and its show kitchens feature satay grills, tandoor ovens, roti hot plate and wok stations. The restaurant seemed to be pretty busy every time i walked by so that is definitely a good sign.

The minimalistic, chic decor with subdued colors, coupled with great breakfast, incredible location, and even more incredible views really make the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur stand out from the crowd.
