As many countries around the world begin easing their COVID-19 travel restrictions, the Maldives once again emerges as a favorite dreamy destination for those seeking to escape everyday life even for a couple of days. However, the exorbitant bill that usually accompanies a Maldivian vacation continues to deter many people from experiencing this one-of-a-kind place. Enter the Adaaran Resorts, which have come up with a reasonably priced all-inclusive package which, unlike most resorts in the Maldives, includes alcoholic beverages. So, what’s this package all about? The purpose of this package is to remove the guesswork for you, so you basically pay a certain sum of money that includes the room rate, all your meals, snacks, minibar, and bottomless drinks, and you enjoy your vacation carefree without having to worry about hidden fees, extra charges, and costs of meals. We stayed at two Adaaran resorts, the Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi and the Adaaran Select Meedhupparu.
Which Adaaran resort is right for you?
The Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi is a 197-room resort located 40 minutes away from Male Airport by speedboat. I saw many families and couples at the resort with most families staying on land while couples seemed to favor the overwater villas. The resort features a surf beach — a rarity in the Maldives and it was exciting to watch surfers ride huge waves from the shore even if you don’t surf. The resort has 7 restaurants and bars. Our favorite was the Beach Grill restaurant which was right on the best beach on the island and had a real island vibe to it, and for that we ended up spending most of our days there.
Our room was a bit on the small side but it was fine since we spent most of the time outdoors but keep this in mind if you’re a couch potato. The food was a bit of a mixed bag but diverse enough for everyone to find at least something they like. The staff were attentive and caring for the most part, but some felt like they could use some extra training/experience. We tried the hotel’s sunset tour and dolphin spotting tour — both of which are highly recommended.
We also stayed at another Adaaran resort — the Adaaran Select Meedhupparu which we liked more than Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi. It has 231 rooms and villas and is located 40 minutes away from Male Airport by seaplane. This resort had more of a Maldivian vibe to it with long stretches of sandy beaches on each side so even if it was fully booked, we were able to find an empty stretch somewhere. The rooms are also larger and better equipped and decorated. The resort has 8 restaurants and bars and we ended up having most of our meals at the Indian restaurant which was simply superb and Cafe Mass where the view is unbeatable as it’s right by the beach.
Due to their all-inclusive packages, both resorts sell out fast so plan way in advance!
